چکیده

In this paper, we propose a modeling approach that captures the dependence of the power dissipation of a combinational logic circuit on its input/output signal switching statistics. The resulting power macromodel, consisting of a single four-dimensional (4-D) table, can be used to estimate the power consumed in the circuit for any given input/output signal statistics. Given a low-level (typically gate-level) description of the circuit, we describe a characterization process by which such a table model can be automatically built. The four dimensions of our table-based model are the average input signal probability, average input transition density, average spatial correlation coefficient, and average output zero-delay transition density. This approach has been implemented and models have been built for many benchmark circuits. Over a wide range of input signal statistics, we show that this model gives very good accuracy, with an rms error of about 4% and average error of about 6%. Except for one out of about 10 000 cases, the largest error observed was under 20%. If one ignores the glitching activity, then the rms error becomes under 1%, the average error becomes under 5%, and the largest error observed in all cases is under 18%.

Estimation of harmonic interference parameters of surface-NMR signal using an adaptive method and residual signal power

Surface nuclear magnetic resonance (surface-NMR) method is a well-known tool for determining the water-bearing layers and subsurface resistivity structure. Harmonic interference is an inevitable interference in surface-NMR measurements. Accurate estimation of harmonic interference parameters (i.e., fundamental frequency, phase and amplitude) leads to better retrieval of power-line harmonics and...

Harmonics Estimation in Power Systems using a Fast Hybrid Algorithm

In this paper a novel hybrid algorithm for harmonics estimation in power systems is proposed. The estimation of the harmonic components is a nonlinear problem due to the nonlinearity of phase of sinusoids in distorted waveforms. Most researchers implemented nonlinear methods to extract the harmonic parameters. However, nonlinear methods for amplitude estimation increase time of convergence. Hen...

CFD Application in 3D flow filed modeling of a large dam reservoir

In the present paper, a 3D numerical model has been applied to predict the flow hydrodynamics around power intakes within the Dez dam reservoir. The Dez dam is a 203 m high, double arch concrete dam which is constructed by Italians in 1962. Since then, sedimentation in reservoirhas continued and since the dam does not have bottom outlet, the reservoir bed level is raising by a rate of about 2.5...

A High-level Microprocessor Power Modeling Technique Based on Event Signatures

This paper presents a technique for high-level power estimation of microprocessors. The technique, which is based on abstract execution profiles called ‘event signatures’, operates at a higher level of abstraction than commonly-used instruction-set simulator (ISS) based power estimation methods and should thus be capable of achieving good evaluation performance. As a consequence, the technique ...

Multivariable regression and artificial neural network procedures were used to modeling of the input power and gas holdup of flotation. The stepwise nonlinear equations have shown greater accuracy than linear ones where they can predict input power, and gas holdup with the correlation coefficients of 0.79 thereby 0.51 in the linear, and R2=0.88 versus 0.52 in the non linear, respectively. ...
